Zhinia Noorian

Zhinia Noorian is an expert in Persian and Iranian Studies. Her first book, Parvin E’tesami in the Literary and Religious Context of Twentieth-Century Iran: A Female Poet’s Challenge to Patriarchy was published by Leiden University Press in August 2023. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher for the ERC Advanced Project Beyond Sharia: The Role of Sufism in Shaping Islam at Utrecht University. Besides her research, she has been teaching Persian acquisition courses at Utrecht University.  

Her most recent book, Mother Persia: Women in Iran’s History, in collaboration with independent historian Brain Griffith was published by Palgrave Macmillan in September 2024.
